After successful previous projects, Schmidbauer Group contacted us in mid-2020. They asked us to support several projects in the energy transition in Germany with Bog Mats. No sooner said than done; we delivered the first bulkheads at the beginning of 2021. Read all information about the two projects in which we supplied flexible on-demand dragline bulkheads here.
Schmidbauer plays a key role in the SuedOstLink project, a crucial part of the energy transition in Germany. The project involves the logistical coordination and storage of 300 kilometers of DC cables. The cables are transported over a 17-day journey from Gron to Bavaria and stored at a 25,000 m² location in Regensburg. Using a Liebherr LR 1300.1 SX crane, Schmidbauer is performing heavy lifting operations to efficiently unload and position the cable reels, which weigh up to 80 tonnes. These activities support the installation of 1,000 kilometres of cables, an important step for the SuedOstLink project.
Schmidbauer continues to be a key partner in the SuedOstLink project, which aims to transport renewable energy from northern to southern Germany via high-voltage direct current transmission. They provide specialized logistics and storage services, including unloading 300 cable drums of 80 tons each with a Liebherr LR 1300.1 SX crane. In addition, they use a Merlo P72.10 telescopic loader and a Clark EPX30i forklift to handle other components. Schmidbauer’s precise logistics planning and timing ensure that all materials are ready for transport to the construction sites, ensuring smooth project execution and supporting Germany’s energy transition goals.
